About Me

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my site!  Here you'll find me talking about faith, family, and what it looks like to follow Christ in today's world, with an eye toward mobilizing women to impact the world through Christ.

I  love writing, speaking, and teaching, particularly teaching the Bible.  Since my early days as a Bible Study Fellowship participant in Raleigh, NC, I longed to teach women.  I could think of nothing better than studying the Word, preparing talks, and delivering these messages.  While my husband Bill was in seminary, I joined the BSF Leadership Team in Andover, MA, and began to get the training I craved.  Simultaneously, I began to receive invitations to speak for women's retreats and events.

Following Bill's graduation from seminary, we moved to Charlottesville, VA to plant Evergreen Community Church.  During our fourteen years of ministry in VA, I wrote articles and Bible studies, developed ministries, discipled women, and spoke at women's retreats and events in VA, PA, and Washington, D.C.

Over the years, my message has been simple and comes from what I see in the Bible and what I have experienced in real life.  My passion is to see women:
  • root their identity in Christ
  • cultivate intimacy with Christ
  • and impact the world through Christ
This blog is an extension of my passion.  My goal is to serve my readers by creating thoughtful content that you can put to work in your life right away as you seek to impact the world through Christ.

I typically post two to three times a week. To be sure that you don't miss a post, you can subscribe by email on my home page.

My Family

More important than my writing, speaking, or teaching is my role as a wife and mom.  I have been married to my cute motorboating guy, Bill, for twenty years.  We're both passionate and outspoken, and our kids will tell you that sometimes closed doors don't contain our "discussions."  But, we love each other deeply and we laugh ... a lot.

Bill has been in ministry since the days I first knew him as the cute motorboating guy.  I've served with him in Young Life, in youth ministry in Massachusettes, church planting in Charlottesville, Va, and now at Inwood Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.

We have seven fabulous kids within eight years of each other.   Really.

Katya
Seven kids!  It totally blows me away that I should be so blessed.  Actually, I began blogging when Katya entered our life.   Katya was living in a Ukrainian orphanage and joined us for several weeks during the summer of 2008 through Frontier Horizon, an organization that serves impoverished children.   I started blogging to chronicle our hosting experience and continued when we decided to pursue adoption. If you're interested in the story of how a ministry family with six kids could end up adopting an "older" orphan, here are some posts to get you started.

I'd love to meet you for a cup of coffee or a walk and get to know you better, but in case that's not possible, you can always email me at cynthiafin@gmail.com or connect with me on Facebook.  Again, thanks so much for stopping by!
